WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

• Applicants who are current Delaware public, charter, independent, or parochial school teachers and administrators.
• Applicants who have previously attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) through an organization other than the Harvard Club of Delaware.
• Applicants who complete the Harvard Club of Delaware online scholarship application form.  

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE?

• Eligible applicants complete the Harvard Club of Delaware's online scholarship application form by March 4, 2024.
• Successful applicants as determined by the Harvard Club of Delaware who receive scholarships will be notified by the second week of March. 
• Harvard Club of Delaware will submit scholarship recipient names to the HGSE.  Scholarship recipients will receive communications from HGSE to complete their program application form. 

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAMS AVAILABLE?

The four on-campus programs for individuals are:

• School Turnaround Leaders: June 3 – 7. 
• Mental Health in Schools: Building Systems of Care: June 11-14.
• Achieving Excellence: Leadership Development for Principals: July 14-19.
• National Institute for Urban School Leaders: July 29 – Aug 2.

The on-campus programs for teams this summer are:

• Data Wise: Using Collaborative Data Inquiry to Build Equitable Schools: June 10– 14. For teams of 3+
• Leading Culture Change: Strategies for School Improvement: June 16–19. For teams of 4+
• Family and Community Engagement: July 22-25. For teams of 3+

HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE?

The Club plans to offer 8-10 scholarships for educators.  The Club preference is to sponsor team applications from the same school or district.  Individual scholarships for the four in-person programs that the HGSE is offering this summer are also encouraged.  If applying as a Team only one application completing the additional team questions is required but all participants should apply through the website and agree to the terms of the scholarship program including the right for the club to publish the names of the recipients.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

• Step 1: Application and Essays (online)
• Step 2: Possible telephone/email interview or questions
• Step 3: Selection
  • Only a select group of applicants will be considered and sponsored.
  • Chosen scholarship applicants will be notified by the 2nd weed of March.
• Step 4: HGSE Program Application (online)
  • Harvard Club of Delaware will submit the names of the scholarship recipients to HGSE.  Upon the submission, scholarship recipients will receive notifications from HGSE to complete their individual application forms.

WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?

If you are selected and admitted by the HGSE, the Harvard Club of Delaware will provide for hotel accommodations and tuition.  The Harvard Club of Delaware does not cover transportation or food costs.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Interested applicants must apply through the link provided by Harvard Club of Delaware website first and not initially through the Harvard GSE website. 
• If selected and admitted by the HGSE, the Harvard Club of Delaware will provide hotel stay and tuition. 
• Transportation and food allowance are not provided.

DOES APPLYING AS A GROUP MATTER?

Sometimes a program (such as the Data Wise Institute) requires team participation.  In addition, the Harvard Club of Delaware tries to prioritize group applications. 

• within a specific school sending both administrators and educators
• within a specific district sending district staff and school administrators/educators
• within the State Department of Education

WHAT ARE THE APPLICATION ESSAYS?

Applicants are required to write two essays.  One essay focuses on explaining how participation in the program will benefit you and the challenges you face. A second essay focus on how your experience and perspective will contribute to the program's learning environment.
